Summary:
Helen, a young girl living in an airship on Venus, is treating her mom’s de-milled combat mech like a dog. But it seems to be cheating to find the items she hides, so she tries to hide a wrench outside, where it can’t secretly watch her...but she falls. The robot then jumps to catch her, and thus must admit that it WAS cheating.
Why?
This project will highlight the different facets of my storytelling abilities. Writing and production design are my own unique and refined creations. It will also show my engineering problem-solving abilities, primarily through showcasing the work going into making the robot puppet animatable, even at its large size.
Also, the character Helen Canto is one that I've written many stories for, and may write many more for, so this short could be a launching off point for all her other adventures.
Production:
The script is just over 2 pages and takes place in an interior and an exterior of the airship Helen and her mom live on. The interior set scale will be 1:8, and will take up a 4-foot by 3-foot table. Helen's puppet will match this scale, but the robot puppet will be cheated smaller to about 85% of a full 1:8 (because it will still be huge even at that size).
Animation could require around 20 days, which will be, by far, the most financially demanding aspect, because it's the main element that I cannot do myself.
