Helen was born at a combat army surgical hospital on the Venusian surface. Her father died a couple months later, right as the Templar War ended and the victory earned the Solar System independence from Central Branch.
Her silver eyes reveal her to be Mixed Avar, and the story of her birth labeled her as an “acid-rain baby.”
Because of bullying from this characteristics, Jessie took Helen out of public school and homeschooled her. But Helen took to the privacy well, and with Jessie’s help she rapidly grew in understanding of mathematics, science, and computer logic systems.
The large, awkward side-project of her mother—the Full Rig mecha they keep in their garage-apartment—has become a personal favorite project for Helen to tinker with. Helen names it Tiger.
In addition to this project, she is secretly trying to get accepted into a special engineering prep school. If she gets in, she can get housing and alleviate her mom of some financial pressure. She doesn’t tell her mom because she both doesn’t want to get her hopes up and doesn’t want to make her worry about them being separated.
